Fumbling With The Crown
He was uncomfortably fumbling with the crown while standing on a little platform in front of the entire class. Wide eyes watched every action he took. We eagerly awaited his next move.He looked at his companions, wondering what they would say if he did this. He took a deep breath as he left the stage and walked over to the girl.

Fumbling With The Crown
He Was Cheered On
Justin felt composed, cool, and collected when his name was called as homecoming king. He was the most popular boy in school, so it was not surprising that he took home the title. The audience applauded him, clapped, and even gave him pats on the back. He couldn’t help but smile. Everything went as planned.

He Was Cheered On
Looking For Her
As he entered the tiny platform, his eyes were drawn to the sea of students in front of him. They were all dressed in dresses and suits. But in the crowd, he was searching for a particular face.He grinned broadly as his gaze finally fell on Mikaela. His smile vanished as he studied her face.

Looking For Her
Unaware And Unprepared
She clutched her date’s arm and sobbed. She knew what was going to happen, but she wasn’t ready. Her eyes were sorrowful for a brief moment before she collapsed on the floor. He couldn’t shake the unpleasant sensation that was burning in his stomach. He knew he had to act, even though it was too late.

Unaware And Unprepared
A Round Of Applause For Our Queen
She watched from a distance as the name of the homecoming queen was proclaimed, her hands covering her face. “A round of applause for your homecoming queen!” His buddies must believe that he committed a grave error. He lifted his hands and adjusted the crown on his head as he considered the matter. There was only one thing he could do to put things right.

A Round Of Applause For Our Queen
Bad Reputation, Unlike His
He clenched his fingers around the crown. Could he really give up his crown for a single girl? He was certain that her reputation was far worse than his. Will he face consequences for his actions? In the end, she was invited to this function by that guy after all. Would he be put off by that?

Bad Reputation, Unlike His
Nerve-Racking
He lifted the crown from his head with moist fingers. He needed to do this before it was too late, even though it was nerve-wracking. Mikaela turned on her heels and prepared to go when he leaped off the stage and called her name. She stopped and turned to look at him, embarrassed. Then it took place.

Nerve Racking
Justin Murphy
Justin Murphy was the most popular student in his school. He was adored by many, particularly as the captain of the football team. Growing up in Parkland, Florida, was ideal for him.He had many friends, his family was very encouraging, and he had no trouble succeeding in school. The young man’s life completely changed when a new lady started attending his high school.

Justin Murphy
Mikeala Jones
Mikaela Jones was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. With her long dark hair and freckled cheeks, he found it hard to accept the existence of such a lovely woman. However, Mikaela’s peers did not react in the same way. Megan, the school’s top cheerleader, didn’t like the new girl who was receiving all the attention. The drama started at that point.

Mikeala Jones
His Ex-Girlfriend
When Justin first heard the terrible tales Megan was spreading about Mikaela, he knew better than to trust them. His ex-girlfriend Megan was the one who made him realize he shouldn’t trust anything she said. But everyone else believed her. Mikaela’s image as a cruel kid who disparaged her classmates swiftly grew. The new girl wasn’t well received as a result.

His Ex Girlfriend
Approaching Her
Justin couldn’t resist approaching her when he first saw her sitting by herself in the cafeteria. As he departed, his pals all chuckled and gave him back pats. There was no doubting her breathtaking beauty. He sat across from her and saw the timid smile on her face as she looked down at her food tray. “Hello, I’m Justin,” he said with a charming smile.

Approaching Her
Down To Earth
He talked to Mikaela throughout the whole lunch break that day. He found out that she had relocated there from New York and that she enjoyed painting and writing original piano music. He was certain that she was not the cruel teenager Megan had portrayed her as; she was clever and grounded. What he saw in her, if only the rest of the school could. He didn’t realize that another boy was interested in her at the moment; all he wanted was to be her friend.

Down To Earth
Getting To Know Her
Justin spent the next few weeks getting to know her very well. Frequently, he would leave his pals to join her for lunch. They couldn’t comprehend his intense desire to spend time with the girl in light of everything they had heard about her. When they happened to cross paths in the hallways one day, he made the decision to discuss a crucial topic: homecoming.

Getting To Know Her
Homecoming Month
Justin was eagerly anticipating Homecoming month, which was just a few weeks away. He was certain that he would take the throne. However, he discovered that day that Mikaela wasn’t as enthusiastic. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to attend homecoming because of all the rumors going around the halls. However, Justin had been anticipating this moment for as long as he could recall. Gaining the throne would be simple given his popularity. He needed a date after splitting up with Megan. He had thought of Mikaela.

Homecoming Month
What Could He Do?
Justin was at a loss for what to do. Mikaela refused to participate in the dance, despite his desire for her to go with him. For the next few days, he made a valiant effort to persuade her to come. Mikaela finally consented to go because she valued her friendship with Justin and wanted to see him happy. She clarified, however, that they would only be going as friends. She didn’t know what lay ahead of her.

King And Queen
Justin figured she wouldn’t object to running for homecoming queen with him as king once she consented to go. For this reason, he made the decision to present his and Mikaela’s names for homecoming king and queen to the organizing committee. He had no notion what this choice would entail.

King And Queen
Ben
However, one casual Friday afternoon, everything changed. With confidence, he had entered the cafeteria, hoping to find Mikaela where she always was. He did, but he was surprised to see the boy seated next to her. Observing how he was staring at her, he scowled. Ben, the boy, didn’t even make an effort to conceal his feelings for Mikaela.

Ben
It’s Painful
As he watched Mikaela, Justin was startled to experience a slight ache. She occasionally put a hand on Ben’s shoulder while laughing at his jokes. She never felt quite at ease with Justin. She was even leaning too close to him to be comfortable. Her gaze seems confused. She kept twirling her hair between her fingers. Justin was unsure about how to interpret this.

It’s Painful
Breathe
Fire shot up his throat as he inhaled deeply. He croaked and coughed as it gored him. His palms got hot and sweaty, and his eyes started to water. He exhaled once more. His heart was dripping in his ears and thumping in his chest. These were feelings he had never experienced before. Was he ill?

Breathe
Jealousy
Justin had never been ill and had always been a healthy boy. But there was something strange about him today. He was feeling uneasy and was looking for a wall to lean against before he passed out. He was unaware that a strong and equally intense jealousy was the cause of all that was occurring to him. Being the most popular student and a golden boy, he had never experienced such a sensation. He had never felt the need for someone or something that he could never have. But his nightmare was just getting started.

Jealousy
Be Strong
Justin muttered, “Get it together, man.” He was panting, curling, and letting go of his fingers, which the students in the cafeteria had begun to notice. The small line of perspiration on his forehead was visible to them. There was a problem. It took Justin a while to realize what was going on. He turned to face Mikaela and sighed as, for the first time, he noticed details about her that he had previously seemed to overlook.

Be Strong
A True Sight To Behold
Mikaela had always impressed Justin with her intelligence, humor, and beauty. However, all of these qualities appeared to be growing enormously today, surpassing any scale that could have been used to quantify them. He could see how thick and delicious her locks were, and how perfect her skin looked. He observed her eyes, which were the deepest shade of green and complemented by a hint of eye shadow. As she spoke to Ben, he observed how she fidgeted with her meal with her delicate fingers, hardly eating it. Justin cursed.

A True Sight To Behold
Frustration
It was then that he became aware of his love for the girl with whom he had developed a strong friendship. The situation was going to become much more difficult. He detested the fact that he didn’t understand he had feelings for Mikaela until another boy was around. He nearly tore out his hair and let out a frustrated scream as he saw a world in which she and Ben ended up together. He had to express his feelings to her.

Frustration
It Was Always Easy
When it came to girls, Justin had always had things easy. Usually, his smile was all that was needed; his speech and eye contact were simply enough to wrap up a fruitful interaction. However, he felt cornered for the first time. Mikaela had never given him the kind of attention other girls gave him. The way she was staring at Ben was unlike how she had ever looked at him. Could this unknown child beat him to the prize?

It Was Always Easy
The King Always Wins
Justin yelled, “No,” and strode to the table. The idea of Ben getting his heart’s desire overwhelmed him, though he wasn’t sure why. Justin was the school’s monarch, and Ben was nothing. Justin sat silently across from them. Although they didn’t spend much time together, he was aware of Ben. He introduced himself and then inquired as to how they were acquainted.

The King Always Wins
Middle School
“Ben and I used to attend the same middle school back in New York,” Mikaela exclaimed, her gaze fixed on Ben. “Believe it or not, we were best buddies! It has been years since we last saw one another. As she recalled her early years with Ben, from their pizza excursions in the Bronx to their festivals in Manhattan, her smile grew. However, Justin was thinking of one thing while she spoke.

Middle School
They Have A History
Justin shouted aloud, “I can’t lose,” and then covered his mouth with his palm. “Sorry,” he apologized meekly. He had been thinking about those exact words, “I can’t lose,” ever since Mikaela began speaking. His heart broke when he saw how engrossed she was in her and Ben’s past, sending waves of excruciating sorrow through him. Ben and Mikaela obviously had a past. However, they were unaware that Justin was devising a strategy to win.

They Have A History
I’m Better
“You must excuse me,” he said. “It’s good to meet you, Ben. Let’s talk, Mikaela.” “Wait, are you okay?” As he stood and moved between pupils, Mikaela inquired after him. “I am,” he said, feigning a smile. He was about to go insane. His body was drowning in jealousy—a completely new emotion. He had to leave. Above all, he had to prove to Mikaela that he was superior to Ben. That could only be accomplished in one way.

I’m Better
Lying
Justin told Mikaela over the phone that night that he had to see her. Fortunately, school had concluded early on Friday night. “Are you okay?” Mikaela said, her voice tinged with worry. “Yes, I am. “Earlier, I wasn’t feeling well,” Justin remarked. “Stomach problems. He lied for the first time, saying, “I think I ate something bad.” “I’m at the mall, wondering if I can see you, maybe talk for a bit.” He was hoping Mikaela would respond “yes.”

Lying
Yes!
“Of course,” Mikaela replied. She had a large sister who worked at the mall and lived a few blocks away. When she met Justin, she would accompany her home. She arrived quickly, as if she thought they were going to have a quick five-minute chat. However, she quickly discovered that this was something different. She would only be interested in Justin by the time he left her side.

Yes!
At The Mall
At the entrance to the mall, Justin met her. He had even gotten an urgent haircut and dressed to impress. His strongest weapon, his contagious smile, was ready to be used, and he smelled good. “Mikaela!” he said, giving her a strong embrace. Her expression of surprise was visible to him. He had never behaved with her in this manner. Her eyebrows wrinkled as she said, “Are you okay?” But he would be dumbfounded by her motivation for posing this query.

At The Mall
It’s Weird
“Yeah, why?” inquired Justin. “I’m not sure,” Mikaela replied. Justin was unable to speak. “You’re acting kinda weird.” Perhaps he was speaking too forcefully. Dialing it back in was his decision. He took Mikaela’s hand and led her to the closest food court, where they had a quick snack before leaving for the movies. However, Justin was unaware that his scheme was going to be thwarted.

It’s Weird
A Simple Plan
Spending time at the movies with Mikaela was wonderful. As she examined scenes with Justin, she demonstrated her pop culture expertise, demonstrating how awesome she was. After the film ended, Justin took her to the arcade to show her some of his favorite games from his early years. It had been an easy plan. This evening, and probably the entire weekend, Justin was supposed to show Mikaela how amazing he could be. He wanted to treat her like the queen she was, and he wanted her to experience him outside of school. However, he suddenly caught sight of someone that made him grit his teeth.

A Simple Plan
Space Invaders
Mikaela yelled his name as soon as they entered the arcade, indicating that she had also spotted him. Ben spun around and began running as he saw her. His embrace was more kind and tighter than Justin’s. Before Justin could respond, he questioned, “What are you guys doing here?” and invited him and Mikaela to play Space Invaders. “Space Invaders!” Mikaela looked to Justin, her jaw hanging open. “We used to play that all the time in New York! Naturally, I always prevailed. Justin, though, was not amused.

Space Invaders
More Memories
He listened to Mikaela and Ben share more of their early memories over the next hour. His body heated up as he listened to them remember their happy times. When Ben told Mikaela that they nearly dated and that he always believed he would end up with her, he felt ill to his stomach.A moment later, desperate to end the conversation, Justin stood up. He told Mikaela that he wasn’t feeling well when she asked what was wrong.

More Memories
Going Home
Mikaela sensed that there was a problem. After returning from the mall that evening, Justin sighed deeply as he sat on his bed and left his jacket on the ground. He had sincerely hoped that tonight would have turned out differently. Everything was going smoothly until Ben arrived and started chatting about high scores and Space Invaders. “It’s official,” Justin declared. “Space Invaders are something I detest.” His phone buzzed in his pocket, and when he took it out, her name showed up on the screen. “Hello?” he said, lifting his phone to his ear after pressing the green button.

Going Home
The Call
“Hey,” “I just wanted to see if you were feeling okay,” she said in a gentle greeting. Sadly, he grinned. Ben was the only other student at their school who truly appreciated how amazing she was. She was such a beautiful girl. Yes, I’m alright. He inhaled into his phone, “I feel a little better than before.” Once she was sure that he was feeling fine, she revealed that there was another reason why she had called him

The Call
The Other Reason
Ben asked me to attend homecoming this evening. Her apprehensive words, “He wants it to be like a date,” made Justin feel sick to his stomach. “Oh,” he said. At the conclusion of their date, he had intended to express his happiness that she was accompanying him. “And what did you tell him?” He made an effort not to show how disappointed he was. I wanted to make sure you were alright with it before responding to him. Justin was devastated when she said, “I really like him, but I agreed to go with you.”

The Other Reason
Disappointment

Disappointment
It’s Cool
Justin didn’t want to obstruct Mikaela because he cared for her. She should have been able to attend homecoming with the boy she really adored. He answered, swallowing the bile that had crept up his throat. Going with him is cool, of course. He tried to hide his melancholy. “I’ll just be glad to see you there.” He had witnessed the depth of Ben’s significance to her. Without doing anything at all, the boy had won. As Mikaela thanked him repeatedly, Justin could hear the happiness in her voice. He would learn to cope as long as she was content.

It’s Cool
The Big Day
The day had arrived before they realized it. Standing alongside his football pals, Justin looked very dapper in his navy blue suit. As they awaited the momentous occasion, they were all standing around and sipping fruit punch. He could see Mikaela from where he stood. It hurt him even more that she looked so beautiful. Ben’s fingers were intertwined with hers, and they appeared to be having a great time together. The moment they had all been waiting for finally came before it was too late. Justin smiled broadly and walked over to the little platform as soon as they declared him the homecoming king.

The Big Day
The King
His entire grade cheered and sang his name as they stood in front of him. However, he was aware that Mikaela would win prom queen if he won prom king. He glanced down at the people in front of him. Even though they were all decked out in gowns and suits, he was looking for a particular face. His smile wavered when they finally found Mikaela. She was now overcome with regret because she understood what this signified as well. She didn’t want their developing connection to be jeopardized because she liked Ben. Aside from that, the thought of being in front of a sea of pupils who didn’t like her appalled her.

The King
An Uncomfortable Situation
She clung to her date’s arm while tears ran down her cheeks. All of a sudden, she was really nervous. For a brief moment, Mikaela looked up at Justin, sadness shining in her eyes before they dropped to the ground. The unpleasant feeling that was slowly burning in the pit of his stomach was unavoidable. It was too late, but he realized he needed to take action.

An Uncomfortable Situation
One Thing To Do
Before calling her name, the speaker enthusiastically declared, “A round of applause for your homecoming queen.” He watched from a distance as she covered his face with her hands. He was aware that he had committed a grave error, but what would his friends think? As he considered the problem, he lifted his hands and adjusted the crown on his head. He could only do one thing to put this right.

One Thing To Do
His Decision
He leaped from the stage and went up to Mikaela and Ben just as she was about to leave. Everyone in the room fell silent. Nobody was aware of the situation. What was going on with him? After taking the crown off his head, he approached Ben. “You ought to take this.” With a sorrowful smile, he turned to face Mikaela and said, “I believe the two of you would make a much better king and queen.” “Go get your crown now; everyone is eager to see the king and queen up there.” Her features broke into a smile. She was astounded by his kindness. Mikaela started dating Ben after homecoming, but she stayed friends with Justin. Every student in the school came to love her as much as Justin. He eventually moved on, but he was still appreciative of having such a wonderful friend.
