Trevor watched as the two walked through the door and disappeared. There was simply him and the bill on the table now. Is he able to crack the code in front of him? Could he have missed the broader picture? His gaze remained locked on the bill, as bewildered as ever. They had tipped him $33.30. Their tip was very specific. What is the reason?

Figuring It Out

Figuring It Out
Harder Than Expected
Trevor Taylor had a humble home with his parents in New Jersey. One of his goals was to move out, but he had yet to acquire enough money to do so. To pay for his school and move out, he worked hard at a nearby wine bar. However, Trevor quickly realized that it was more difficult than he had anticipated. However, the primary cause was that most customers stopped tipping.

Harder Than Expected
Starting Out
When Trevor initially started working at the restaurant. On a typical Saturday night, he would earn a lot of money. He had saved everything and felt confident that he would be able to move out soon. However, after a few months, the gratuity began to dry up. People began tipping less and less. He was now earning about half of what he used to make on weekends.

Starting Out
Frustrations
Trevor was quite frustrated. He felt as if his brilliant future had been ripped away from him in a cruel twist of fate. But he refused to quit up. He kept working hard, hoping that things would get better. After all, he had not considered seasonal changes. During the holidays, he would be tipped significantly more.

Hanging In There
He hung in there for weeks. But trying to provide the greatest service possible would quickly burn him out and make him cynical. Now he just had to wait for the next customers to arrive.

It caught Trevor’s eye. Each table had a number on it. That’s when he spotted Table 33. Three men sat at it. Was that part of the code?He decided to explore the men further. He’d figure out what was going on based on the one sentence the females left on the bill.

Table Number
One Phrase
There was only one phrase on the bill. They’d written. “This number is essential. Everything will make sense if you find it out. Trevor initially didn’t understand, but as he approached the table, everything became evident. He cleared his throat and greeted the folks around the table. They appeared to be in their forties, but there was something familiar about them.

One Phrase
All Made Sense
Trevor summoned up the bravery to say, “I received a note from the two young ladies who sat there. They appeared to wish to direct me to you guys.” One of the men cleared his throat and spoke. “Those girls are constantly getting into mischief, just as their mothers used to. Yes, they’re my daughters. I’m guessing they didn’t tip enough and expected me to. Here.” The man said this before giving Trevor a $30 tip. It was fantastic. He thanked the man before walking away. People could be kind. The guys became regulars, along with their daughters. They ate separately, and he always received the same directions for his gratuity.
