Nina Hagen revolutionized the German music scene in the 1970s by popularizing punk in Germany, and her eccentric, unmistakable style still characterizes her today. Elke Sommer was one of the German actresses who made the leap to Hollywood in the 1960s. This brought her to the attention of director Vittorio De Sica, and in 1963 she starred in “The Prize”, for which she received a Golden Globe as the most promising newcomer. Tony Marshall, born in Baden-Baden, was initially trained as an opera singer and began his career at the Karlsruhe Academy of Music. It made him one of the most popular pop singers of his time in Germany. He has been an honorary citizen of Baden-Baden since 2018. Angela Lansbury was born in London in 1925 and grew up there with two younger brothers. Her mother, an actress herself, was her main inspiration and supported her on her way into the film world.
